Safety and health at work, as a fundamental right, constitute the essential segment encompassed both in the social dimension and in the health dimension. Together with workability and individual well-being, it is the primary element for the overall socio-economic development of any state.
Safety and health at work represent a multidisciplinary field – a structure of engineering, physics, medicine, organization, chemistry, etc. Occupational protection, namely safety and health at work as a compilation of measures, norms, and standards defined to establish safe working conditions, is a primary category in social policies.
Even the Republic of Kosovo, on its integrative path to the European Union, has approached the harmonization of legislation in the field of safety and health at work with high dedication. This is reflected not only in the transposition of European regulations but also in the capacity-building towards establishing a system of safety and health at work. Perhaps the latest progress report of the European Commission for the Republic of Kosovo presents significant progress, especially in harmonizing legislation in this field.
